LAURA LAU
柳淑敏
Laura has been a member of Canadian Ging Wu since 2009. She received her black sash in 2016 and has since been teaching and coaching students in the Kung Fu classes every Tuesdays and Thursdays. Her weapon of choice is the three sectional. She helps with organizing demos and leading the team to a successful performance. Laura has also participated in several competitions including COMAC held in Calgary and the International Can-Am Martial Arts Championships where she received Grand Champion for Instructor Level Soft Style Kung Fu.
VINCENT LAU
柳声杰
Vincent has been a member of Canadian Ging Wu since 2009. He received his black sash in 2019 and has since been coaching and teaching classes' every Tuesdays and Thursdays in the Kung Fu class. He specializes in Forms and Weapons and some of his favourite weapons include the staff and the 3-Sectional. Vincent has also participated in a number of international competitions throughout his martial arts career some including the 2018 World Chinwoo Wushu Championships held in Yuyao, China and the 2023 Can-Am International Martial Arts Championships held in Vancouver, BC.
ANH LE
Anh has been a member of Canadian Ging Wu since 2008. She received her black sash in 2019 and has since been coaching and mentoring students in the Kung Fu Classes every Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. Her weapons of choice are the double broadswords and the 9 sectional chain whip. Aside from coaching the kids class and adults class, she also helps lead performances and tournaments. She is currently a pharmacy student studying at the University of Alberta.
DOMINIC VU
Dominic has been a part of Ging Wu for a long time. His preferred weapon is the monk spade. Dominic usually helps out with performances and lion dances. Outside of Ging Wu, Dominic is either working or studying.
ALAN NGU
Alan has been a member of Canadian Ging Wu since 2000. His favourite weapon is his hands as he specializes in Sanda and kickboxing. Alan is usually volunteering as an instructor with the adults class and helps out with performances. If Alan is not at Ging Wu, he is either working out at the gym, studying for school, travelling, or hanging out with his friends and family.
RICHARD HUYNH
Richard has been a member of Canadian Ging Wu since 2008 and has played a role as a student and an assistant instructor. His weapon of choice is the nunchucks and the tiger fork. Richard can be found helping out with Kung Fu performances, lion dances, or instructing adult classes. He is currently studying in Montreal and plans to come back to Ging Wu by the end of 2021.
DAVID VU
David came to Canada in 1980, and graduated from NAIT, Architectural Technology in 1987. He opened his first restaurant in 1999. David joined the Canadian Ging Wu Kung Fu in 2008, and achieved his black sash level in 2016. He currently owns three Hoang Long restaurants with his wife. David is a proud father of two and a half children (a daughter, a son and a son-in-law), and a grandfather of two grandchildren. He is training harder to become an Assistant Instructor.
MELVIN HA
Melvin has been a part of Ging Wu for a very long time. His preferred weapon is the broadsword. Melvin is an important member of the lion dance team and can be found helping out with our Kung Fu and lion dance performances. He has taken a step back recently to focus on his career.
KYANNA TO
苏可欣
Kyanna joined Canadian Ging Wu in 2011 when she was 5 years old. Her weapon of choice is nunchucks and fan, and is now practicing the 9 sectional. Kyanna helps teach kids classes, and also helps with Kung fu performances and lion dance. Outside of Kungfu, Kyanna does gymnastics and enjoys travelling, biking, and snow boarding.
