WHO IS THE CANADIAN GING WU ?
The Canadian Ging Wu Kung Fu Martial Art Association is a non-profit organization that promotes Chinese Martial Arts/Kung Fu in the City of Edmonton. We mainly pride ourselves in teaching Hung Kuen (洪拳).
WHERE ARE YOU LOCATED ?
Our large training facility is located on the second floor of Hiep Thanh Supermarket (协成食品超级市场) at 10712A - 98 Street, which is also behind The Brick.
WHAT IS THE MINIMUM AGE REQUIRED FOR MY CHILD TO JOIN THE KIDS CLASS AT GING WU ?
Most of the time, 6 years of age is the minimum requirement, but in some cases, kids aged 5 may still be accepted at the instructors' discretion.
HOW MUCH DO TOURNAMENTS/CHAMPIONSHIP USUALLY COST ?
Typically,
- The first + second division(s) usually costs around $50 - $60
- Every additional division after that usually costs $10 - $15
WHEN DOES GING WU USUALLY ACCEPT NEW STUDENTS ?
We usually accept new students into the club in the months of March, June and September for the kids and youth/adults class.
IS THERE A WAY TO REACH THE INSTRUCTORS IF I HAVE ANYMORE QUESTIONS ?
Yes!
Ging Wu has a team sports communications app called, "TeamSnap". This app is available both on the Google Play Store as well as the Apple App Store.
ARE THERE ANY FREE TRIAL CLASSES PROVIDED ?
Yes!
You may take one free class in either our Kids Class or our Youth/Adult Class, which takes place on Tuesday and Thursdays every week.
WHO TEACHES THE CLASSES AT GING WU ?
At Ging Wu, we have 6 main instructors that come teach when they're available during the kids & youth/adult classes that we offer on Tuesdays & Thursdays. Additionally, we also have assistant instructors that help with warm-ups as wells as other forms and weapons that are taught in class.
WHAT SHOULD I BRING FOR MY FIRST CLASS AT GING WU ?
T-shirt, training/athletic pants (basketball shorts in the summer) and some indoor training shoes. (Please note: Street shoes, runners, sandal and bare feet are prohibited in the club.)
MAY I COME UP TO WATCH THE CLASS ?
Definitely!
We welcome anyone who has interest to come view and observe classes. There are plenty of seating available.
