1936 - 2003

Sigung (Grand Master) Stan Lee launched his illustrious martial arts career in China where he began his training in the discipline of Hung Gar Kung Fu. He moved to Hong Kong where he became the student of Wong Bo Tong, Lam Fay Hung, and Lau Jaam. He studied various styles and philosophies including but not limited to Chin Woo, Seven Star Praying Mantis, Eagle Claw, Tai Chi, Chi Gong, and Northern Long Fist. After relocating to Edmonton, Sigung Stan Lee began passing on his knowledge to a few select students. At that point, he came to the realization that there existed a need for a Kung Fu studio in the Edmonton area. His aspirations for a place to train came to fruition in approximately 1969 when he was finally in a position to open the Canadian Ging Wu Kung-Fu Club.

Founded by the late Sigung Stan Lee in 1969, the Canadian Ging Wu Martial Arts Association is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to promoting Chinese Martial Arts in the City of Edmonton. We offer training in traditional Kung Fu styles of Chin Woo, Hung Gar, San Da, Chinese weapons as well as Fut San Lion Dance. We are also excited to announce that we now offer Muay Thai, Jujitsu, and Karate.

The Canadian Ging Wu Kung Fu Martial Arts Association is a proud official member of the World Chin Woo Federation.

Our goal is to provide our students a safe and positive environment to learn traditional martial arts. We feel that students can learn discipline, self confidence along with martial arts. Our Association has a deep history of cultural exchange and we are looking to develop more value for you as members and in turn drive leadership for all Sifus/Instructors in the future and pass down our traditions.

On behalf of Canadian Ging Wu, we would like to thank all of our past and present instructors who have volunteered their time to help build the association as a reputable and well-respected school in the martial arts community.
